Irritable Bowel?

Afraid to go out in public or to friends for fear of whether you will make
it to the nearest loo in time? Embarrassed because you have such bad
wind?  Is your tummy often bloated and uncomfortable?

Well the good news is you don't need to live like this anymore!

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a condition of the digestive system that
results in a variety of uncomfortable symptoms. IBS may occur in up to 30%
of the population, more commonly in females. The cause is often unclear,
however some cases of IBS may occur after an episode of gastroenteritis or
food poisoning.

Physical symptoms of IBS vary but may include:
  - abdominal pain
  - wind
  - constipation and/or diarrhoea
  - bloating

Most IBS sufferers find that their diet has a significant influence on
their symptoms. There are a number of dietary triggers for symptoms of
IBS which vary from person to person. Therefore, it is recommended you consult with
an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) who can assess your diet and symptoms
and advise you about a diet that can reduce your symptoms of IBS.  Remember
there is no point avoiding foods unnecessarily!

Don't put up with that uncomfortable, bloated tummy or let your bowels
control your life a day longer. Make an appointment today to see our
Dietitian about an appropriate diet to manage your IBS.
Please note the symptoms of IBS are also common in other bowel conditions.
Therefore it is important to consult a doctor who can rule out other
conditions before diagnosing IBS. If you would like more information
